1) Large sheets of styrofoam, preferably no thicker than 1 inch
2) Hacksaw blade
3) Exact-o Knife
4) Hot glue gun, with glue refills
5) Fishing line, preferably at least 10 pound strength
6) Large sewing needle
7) Ruler and tape measure
8) Felt tip pen, fine
For my project I made my bridges with the following dimensions:
Beam Bridge:
Arch Bridge:
The arch bridge has the same dimensions as the beam bridge, but with added lower supports
Truss Bridge:
The truss bridge used the beam bridge as the base. On top of the beam bridge, a truss structure was built.
Suspension Bridge:
Once again, the suspension bridge used the beam bridge to provide the base of the framework.
Using the sewing needle, thread the fishing line through the needle. Then thread the needle at the points marked off in the above diagram. It is easier to work from the inside then towards the outside.
The pillars are 1.9 cm x 1.9 cm x 15.2 cm in dimensions. There are horizontal supports with the similar dimensions, only shorter.
