A brief history of Pepper's ghost

Pepper’s Ghost Illusion was invented in 1862 by Professor John Pepper which was then widely used in the theatre, museums, concerts, etc.

The original design on the stage uses a large panel of glass tilted at a certain angle to the line of the audience's vision. Then the actor standing under the stage with spot light turning on can be reflected through the glass to form a ghost like image on the center of the stage. When the spot light turns off, the actor's reflected image disappears just like magic.

Disney Haunted Mansion Museum also uses the technology of Pepper's Ghost by placing glasses in the ballroom to reflected the dancing characters.

Pepper's Ghost also lets the Japanese virtual idol Hastune Miku stand on the stage and interact with the audience.
