• Apparatus:
  1. 2 - 500mL beakers filled with water until the water just begins to pour out

  2. 2 scales

  3. 1 marble

  4. 1 styrofoam cup filled with molasses weighing the same as the marble

• Construction and Set-Up Procedures:
  1. We found that the beakers spilled water onto its side rather than onto the scale. To overcome this problem we extended the beaker's lip by attaching a wax paper ramp. Be careful to make sure that the water does not get trapped on the wax paper ramp. The wax paper ramp needs to be angled down towards the scale.
